Answer

Hello Ski Patrol,

Thank you for posting.   There is no way to rotate the video in Windows Media Player, but the Video can be edited in Windows Movie Maker.  Movie Maker has an option to rotate the video.

Please let me know if this is a helpful option for you and I can guide you through the steps to do it in Movie Maker.

Hello devonnoved and 21Xochi,

To rotate frame in Movie Maker, on the menu bar select Tools

Effects. The effects are in aphabetical order. There is a Rotate 90, Rotate 180 and Rotate 270.

There are also a Mirror, Horizontal, Vertical to flip the image. Hope this helps you all. Make it a great day

That all very well but movie maker change your file type. so when you want to play it, it will ONLY play it in movie maker which is a tiny screen and cant not make it full screen as you can with media player. If you try to open it with media player you

cant not play that file type, how can one windows application not accept a file made by another. This seems to be something Windows needs to address, because it seems like alot of people want media player to rotate videos. Why cant you just intergrate the

two things would be so much darn easier I hate that i have to watch my videos either upside down or on a tiny screen, am fed up. Windows 7 has been hailed the best at dealing with making things simplier, listen to the people.

If you look at the top of Movie Maker in the Sharing section, you can click on one of the icons for hd or widescreen other options are youtube or burn a dvd and hit save. This way it will open in the media player, not the movie maker. Good luck.

I just rotated a video in Movie Maker and saved it to a windows media file.

1 Import the video you want to rotate.

2 Select the clip and drag it down to the story board across the bottom of the screen and select it.

3 Go up to Tools Video Effects and scroll down and select the rotation appropriate for your vieo for me it the was the rotate 270 degrees This should have rotated your video.

4 Go up to File Save Movie File which opens a dialogue box with options to save to My Computer, Recordable CD, Email, The Web and DV Camera - select My Computer and let it do it s thing.

Bingo.  A windows media player file.

Why even bother.  Just play the video in iTunes.  If Microsoft wants us to have a manual or a second program to do something as basic as rotating a video, just find some other program to do it.  Maybe they will FINALLY learn that we re all sick and tired

of trying to figure out their products.  I m not Apple person, either.  I think they are over-priced, arrogant, hipster lameness, but by-and-large the programs they make work much, much better.

1. Open the video or project in Windows Live Movie Maker

2. Go to the Home tab

3. In the tool bar at the top look in the Editing group. There you will see Rotate Left and Rotate Right icons. Click on either of them until your video is the correct orientation.

4 Save. You re done.

I m using Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 build 15.4.3538.0513. Download it for free here:

i preferred a 2 step solution, should say 2 clicks solution,

check out the trial of a little tool called

Rotate Video that does not really pretend to be other than that but in my modest opinion is handy. in any case there s a trial so u can hardly go wrong, again you might want to get more for more or if it s just a rotating editing on a video it should

make it. my 0.02

How Do I rotate a video in media player like i rotate a picture

Its fairly simple guys, i just worked it out:

1 Open the video in WIndows Live Movie Maker

2 Hit the Rotate Right icon

3 You can either upload direct to Youtube or Facebook  OR

4 Click SAVE MOVIE icon and click For Computer

The file saves as WMV format.

Good luck

If you rotate it in movie maker  you have to play it in movie maker, it s still on an angle in media player.  I have a video and its sideways on my pc in media player but I send it to her pc and it plays ok in her media player. what does she have that

I don t.. Puzzled.

Simple Guys.

If you are Using Intel Mother Board / Graphics you can easily rotate the Video Just for Watching.

Here is the Entire article about it discussing how to rotate a Video

Now Play the video which you want to rotate and play it in full screen if you want.

Now Press

ALT  CTRL  Down Arrow for 180 Degree Rotation.

ALT  CTRL  Up Arrow for 0 Degree Rotation.

ALT  CTRL  Right Arrow for 90 Degree Rotation.

ALT  CTRL  Left Arrow for 270 Degree Rotation.

All I asked was can you rotate a video in media player and now I know it cannot be done I do not need to know about other players because I already know that. Now what I want to know is how to unsubscribe from this . I m getting a pile of emailes

every day and do not want them this is more irritating then my problem was.

Obviously the thread and also response from joe4tune was posted over 3 years ago but I just downloaded VLC Media Player, hoping to rotate a video emailed to me by my brother.  However, I could NOT find the command to change the orientation.  It is not

under View, Tools, or Video.   Or at least it s not OBVIOUSLY under any of those.  I persisted because joe4tune was so convincing plus I then read a very favorable review from CNET.   Eventually I DID find it.  Here s help for anyone reading this -

Select Tools, then Effects Filters, then Video Effects and then at bottom left of that window is a dial which allows for intricate rotation.  Very nice, but not intuitive how to get there.  But it is open source and free so I m really not complaining.

A suggestion would be to make it more intuitive maybe.  Hope this helps someone.

Oh and by the way - changing the orientation is a permanent change to the file ONLY if opened with VLC Player.   So be sure to change your default or ensure you open with VLC player.

Just wondering if you can help me with a problem in Windows Movie Maker. I am creating a video with one of the scenes clips rotating. It actually is a closeup of an eyeball rotating. Now I used the rotating icon under Visual Effects in a clip on my timeline/storyline,

but the problem is that it is a rectangular box that the clip is rotating in in a circular motion, so while it s rotating in a circle the edges of the black background show. Follow me. The rotating eyeball is not taking up the whole box, so it doesn t look

right. I am trying to make the whole box filled up with the rotating eyeball or whatever I want to rotate, but the edges of the black background is showing.  Thx.

1  Open Media Player Classic.

2  Click View, and then Options.

3  Click Keys under the Player section on the left-hand side. This displays a list of all the key commands on the right-hand side. Key commands are a combination of key-presses that perform a task in the player.

4  Scroll through the key commands until you see the PnS Rotate commands. These commands are what are used to rotate your image. The X, Y and Z after Rotate distinguishes which axis is rotated. When viewing an image that needs rotating,

press the corresponding key listed next to the PnS Rotate command you need. For example, if your video image were upside-down you would use the PnS Rotate Y command.

Thanks but how do you move the video to VLC Media Player for rotation, and then to play in Windows Media Player.

Please assist.

A temporary trick is to rotate your monitor either physically, or through Screen Resolution.

Please try a lower page number.

Please enter only numbers.
